Whether you suffer from an acute injury or a long-term condition, we work with you to achieve recovery and maximum wellness using a non-surgical approach. Our doctors conduct a thorough evaluation and develop an integrated medical treatment plan to address all orthopedic ailments, including spine, back, and joint problems; muscle, tendon, ligament, and nerve injuries; sports injuries; and arthritis. They may prescribe a treatment mix to include acupuncture, trigger point therapy, spine and joint injections, prolotherapy and other therapies that can all be done in our Midtown office location.

Yuriy Shepelyak

Dr. Yuriy Shepelyak specializes in non-surgical orthopedics, also known as physiatry, a form of musculoskeletal medicine. A native of Brooklyn, Dr. Shepelyak has been practicing in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania and is now returning to his New York City roots to join our team at Midtown Integrative Health & Wellness. He sees his primary role as helping patients maximize function, minimize pain and improve stability. “I became a physician because I had a strong desire to help others. Being a yoga teacher, I have an intuitive understanding of anatomy and physiology. Becoming a physiatrist was the next best step in healing and teaching my patients.” said Dr Shepelyak, a graduate from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn. “In addition, physical medicine and rehabilitation is inherently an open-minded specialty with acceptance of all types of modalities and approaches to musculoskeletal medicine. It’s a specialty that requires the physician to work with other specialists, such as acupuncturists, massage therapists, physical therapists and chiropractors.” Dr. Shepelyak notes that over 90 percent of people experience low back pain and neck pain at some point in their life.  He believes in taking a conservative approach first, focusing on the good posture, strengthening and stretching. And when these options are exhausted, he addresses problems using different types of steroids injections or regenerative medicine injections. “My goal is always to find the problem and to create a unique treatment plan for each one of my patients, depending on their personality and their abilities," he said.
